About the Bearcats
Based in the western suburbs of the beautiful city of Adelaide, the Bearcats field around 70 junior and senior teams in South Australia’s premier basketball competitions. Our senior men’s and women’s teams compete in the elite NBL1 competition, while our other teams represent the club in Basketball SA’s district competitions.
The Bearcats play our home games at the Port Adelaide Recreation Centre (50 St Vincent Street, Port Adelaide).
The stadium is used seven days a week for basketball of all sorts - from NBL1 to junior training to social basketball. You'll always find a game or training on at Port Adelaide.
The West Adelaide Basketball Club commenced in name in 1951 as a progression from the Kingston Basketball Club, which was established in 1946.
We now have more than 700 registered junior and senior players, while West Adelaide’s success in the SA State League has been outstanding: 16 men’s State Championships and 6 Women’s Championships - along with the 1982 NBL Championship - leaving the Bearcats as the standout club in South Australian basketball history.
OUR HALL OF FAME
The Club has produced many Australian and Olympic players. These and many others are now listed in the Bearcats Hall of Fame.
The Hall actually has three sections - Legends, Hall of Fame Inductees and Honour Roll. You can learn more about the players and coaches who have been behind the club's success.
